Play the List Bingo! announcement!
Jan. 20th, 2023 11:08 pmPlay the List Bingo!
Welcome to the Play the List Bingo! challenge!
It consists of the three playlisted Bingo cards, meaning: each of the prompts has a piece and/or song attached to it.
Write and/or pod and/or create any type of art for as many of the prompts as you want, for any fandom, and any ship! Points are counted until June 1.
This event is inspired by the P&S Bingo fic fest, and by the "DJ by mood" sessions I did a few times with some fellow writers. For each of the bingo elements, I added a track from my scope of knowledge, hoping to inspire your writing/artsing/podficcing for the prompts! (Since my scope of musical knowledge is leaning heavily on the classical side, this is the case for this bingo card too, since you can always do with more classical music, IMO.)
But: there is also the option for you to submit prompts and tracks yourself - see below, in FAQ!
Feel free to chat me up on my Screaming Pitch (aka discord server) or comment here on this post, if you have any questions or anything is unclear. And I'm always happy to explain my (less obvious) choices for tracks!
Have fun!
And since I have no-where else where I can say this: Thank you to Jan_AQ, Potions and Snitches mod, for allowing me to host this challenge! The keywords should make my track choice unmistakable; if that's not the case, please let me know.
Rules
Write as many stories, produce as many podfics, and create as much and any type of art you want to, using both the track and prompt on the three bingo cards! This event is open to all fandoms, ships, ratings and media. You are allowed to combine multiple prompts into one story/art piece, or you can create separate works for each prompt.
Every track and prompt crossed out is worth 5 points; one bingo per card (a crossed-out line, column, or diagonal of 5 prompts) is worth an additional 20 points. A blackout (complete card crossed out) is worth another 50 points. Completing a work gives you 10 more points.
Only newly-created works count towards the point count, each prompt may be counted once.
To participate in the event, post your work to the AO3 collection or send me a link so that I can create an external bookmark in the collection. Please keep track of your points by noting down the prompts in the Author's/Podficcer's/Artist's Notes.
Please tag your works and place warnings appropriately.
Works may be cross-posted to other websites, and may be part of other events and fests, as long as the submission here doesn't violate the other events' rules.
And most of all: Have fun!
FAQ
Q: Do I have to mention the song or the prompt and/or use the exact wording?
A: You don't have to; as long it's clear your story (element) is at least vaguely inspired by the prompt and track, it will count. The exact meaning of the prompt is up to you!
Q: How can I get descriptions for the tracks?
A: Contact me (Serena) on Discord!
Q: Do I have to do the cards in order?
A: You don't!
A: Fics and pods can be posted chapter-wise. Single-panel art should be complete. Sections and segments should make some sort of sense - I trust your common sense here ;-) Otherwise, feel free to submit in the AO3 collection whenever you're ready!
Q: You said the deadline is on June 1st. What if I want to create content after it?
A: You're always open to (this collection will stay open), but only submissions until June 1st count towards points.
A: This event isn't limited to fandom, ship, rating or medium. Feel free to create any content you want to!
Q: How do I sign up for this?
A: Officially, you just submit to the collection once you're ready. (Unofficially, claim the Bingo Player! role on the server.)
Q: Is entering the server required to participate in this event?
A: No, it's not, though I'd be very happy to get to know you either way!
Q: How do I submit my own prompts? And is non-classical music acceptable?
A: Of course! Please fill out the following form as comment on Dreamwidth or on Discord:
Word prompt:
Track name: (so that the track selection is unambiguous)
'Safe For Work' yes/no? (as in, is it suitable for child and teen audiences?)
